Who Says You Have To?

Click Here to Read the Article:

The two most tyrannical words in the English language (or their equivalent translations in other languages) are “to” and “have”. When connected to form the directive “have to”, they create an invisible anchor of infinite weight around one’s neck. Three of the worst anchors are:

  • “have to be”
  • “have to do” and
  • “have to have”

Think about how more pleasant life would be if “have to” was replaced with “prefer to”, or dropped entirely!
